please read instruction thoroughly! I will post the reply as soon as you complete this. Then I will write back to you and show you 2 classmates that will need the response.Thanks.
I hope you enjoyed reading this book!
As I mentioned in the Guideline document there are so many aspects of this book we can discuss.
Choose one of the questions below and write a knowledgeable response, that demonstrates you read the book and considered the information presented. Your response must be at least 14 sentences and no longer than 20. ( worth up to 14 points for a well-written and informative post)
Respond to at least TWO other peoples posts in a knowledgeable way; each post must be at least 6 sentences long and be more than an agreement statement, meaning you need to include some substance in your response, such as other information you learned from the book that you didn’t already state in your original post (3 points for each response).
Do NOT repeat information in your replies that someone else has already posted (you must make your initial post before you see other people’s posts). Read other posts/replies before responding to others. You will be DOCKED points if you repeat information.
Use proper grammar and punctuation in your posts. Remember this is an upper division college course and your writing needs to reflect this standing. You will be DOCKED points for grammatical errors/sloppiness. I highly encourage everyone to write their answers in a word doc and use spelling and grammar check and then copy and paste it into the discussion post. Always proofread your work.
Question Choices: ONLY CHOOSE ONE
Consider how different things would have been if a reputable interpreter was involved in all the encounters between the Lee family and medical professionals.
After reading this book explain the importance of hospitals hiring interpreters and/or cultural liaisons/medical anthropologists.

What is Secondary Migration? Why did so many Hmong families end up in Merced, California?

Studying Change

Purpose:
Anthropologists study many different aspects of humanity in order to fully understand the diversity of the human species. Remember, evolution can apply to both physical and societal changes, so things like language and customs can evolve just as much as bodies and brains. In this assignment, you will examine how anthropologists from two different subfields can study evolution (change over time). Be sure you download the attached worksheet, fill it out, and submit it. Other formats (for example, a paper, will not be accepted)
Directions:
In the table that is provided, type your answers to these questions:
Explain what physical anthropology is, and how physical anthropologists study evolution. Find at least one scholarly source that identifies a specific research project in which physical anthropologists study evolution (e.g. the Human Genome Project- conduct your own original research, do not use this example). Describe the research project and its significance in our understanding of evolution.
Choose a second subfield of anthropology (cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, or archaeology). Explain what the second subfield focuses on, and how anthropologists in this subfield study evolution. Find at least one scholarly source that identifies a specific research project in which anthropologist from this subfield study evolution. For example, an archaeologist may look at how tools have changed through time, and what has caused that change (conduct your own original research, do not use this example). Describe the research project and its significance in our understanding of evolution.
Compare and contrast how physical anthropologists and anthropologists in the subfield you chose study evolution.

DOES RACING GET YOU ANYWHERE?: Considering the historical context of racial
discrimination and what you have learned about race as a social construct, survey a DOZEN
people, asking them 1) how they answer when filling out forms that have a race and/or ethnicity
box. 2) Ask them why they classify themselves that way; 3) ask them what the classification
means to them. Then tally and review the results of your survey and write a commentary about
those results, critically applying what you have learned from the chapter on ethnicity and race

Answer the following two questions in essay format, giving as much detail from the sources. For each question, answer in 2 pages minimum which is why i put the page count as a little over 4 pages. Intro paragraph should make it clear what question is being answered with some background. No need to include a bibliography, unless you find any outside sources to add information. But bibiography will NOT count towards word count. I will attach the articles by Janis Jenkins and Tanya Luhrmann for you to answer the questions. No need to read the entire articles or books, but draw from them to answer questions! Thank you
The questions are:
Discuss three main ideas argued by Janis Jenkins to approach the understanding of mental health conditions.
According to Tanya Luhrmann, why is it relevant to analyze the cultural contexts of people with mental illness conditions?

The goal of this assignment is to learn how to critically analyze content as well as to show that you understood the reading. You must explore at least one reading in enough depth to show that you understand it. The best write-ups combine a short summary of a reading, connection to one other course reading/lecture/film, and bring in one resource from outside the course. Each paper should be between 400 and 500 words and be well written in terms of organization and academic quality.

Final Writing Project
Ethics are a key concern for all anthropological research projects. For your final writing project, I want you to pretend that you are proposing a research project to the ASU Institutional Review Board.
Using 700-1,000 word you’ll need to propose an anthropological study focusing on some aspect of the everyday lives of your participants (fashion, food, funerals, family, fun, etc.). Your proposal must be fully cited, and it must be an in-text citation method such as MLA. Please see the syllabus for how the paper will be graded.
Your proposal should
*Define the parameters of what your study is including
*Where it will happen.
*Who your research participants will be
*How you will start your project
*Explain why you think this is an important topic to research
*List what methods you will use to collect your data
*Including why you chose those methods
*Discuss what you hope to learn or gain from this study
*Mention others who have done similar work
*State how your research would be different
*Address any ethical concerns of the project
*Including how you plan on protecting your participants
*Justify how the results of this study might be used or applied
